Day 9 - Sharing Swiss Insights at Tenafly High School

Today we had the opportunity to visit Tenafly High School. To get there, we first took the subway and then decided to get off a bit earlier to walk across the George Washington Bridge, a nice break from public transport and a great way to take in the view. After the walk, we caught an Uber that took us the rest of the way to the school.
At Tenafly High School, we were greeted with a warm welcome and some hot coffee to start the day. Mr. Gregorio then gave us a tour of the building, showing us around the different classrooms and facilities. It was interesting to see how daily life at an American high school compares to what we’re used to in Switzerland. We also had the chance to sit in on a few classes and get a small taste of “American high school life” in action.
In the afternoon, it was our turn to present. We gave a short introduction to the Swiss apprenticeship model, explaining how education and hands-on work experience are combined. We also did a small deep dive into the topic of cybersecurity. The students were engaged and asked thoughtful questions, showing real curiosity about how the Swiss system works.
Overall, it was a rewarding visit that gave us new insights into the American school system and made us reflect on the similarities and differences between our approaches to education.
