Day 13 – Visit at the UBS New Jersey office

Day 13 was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. We got to visit the UBS office in Weehawken, New Jersey. The day started early, and after a short ride across the Hudson, we arrived at the impressive UBS building right by the waterfront with an amazing view of Manhattan. Once we checked in and went through security, we met our contacts from UBS who welcomed us and guided us to the meeting room where we would spend most of the day.
The morning started with an introduction to the Graduate Talent Program, followed by a warm welcome from one of the senior leaders, Anthony Skipper. He shared a bit about his career and gave us some great advice about making the most out of early opportunities. After that, we had a series of sessions giving us an overview of different parts of the company like technology strategy, operations, and investment banking. Each presentation was short but packed with information, and it was really interesting to see how many different areas work together within such a big organization.
Later in the morning, we got to tour the Weehawken office and the Wealth Advice Center. The building itself was super modern, and the view from the windows was incredible. You could see all of Manhattan across the river.
After lunch, we had more sessions covering topics like technology, AI, philanthropy, cybersecurity, and wealth management. It was a lot to take in, but every speaker had something unique to share, and it gave us a great overview of what UBS does globally.
In the afternoon, we joined a small Diwali celebration at the Hawks Nest, which was such a fun surprise. The decorations were beautiful, and there was music and sweets. It added a really nice cultural touch to the day.
To wrap things up, we had a fireside chat with three UBS leaders who talked about their experiences, challenges, and what it’s like to build a career in finance. It felt very genuine and inspiring, and it was the perfect way to end the day.
By the time we got back, everyone was tired but happy. The visit gave us a real inside look into how a global company like UBS operates, and it definitely left us all motivated and excited for what’s ahead.
