Day 28 – Visit at Uber

Today was not only our last proper day in New York, but also the day of our visit at Uber. Some of us started the morning at the gym, while others preferred to stay in bed a little longer and leave later. Eventually everyone split into two groups to spend the last day exploring the city, visiting some shops and taking in the final impressions of New York. We all felt a bit surprised by how fast time had passed. Some of us were already a little sad about leaving the next day, but we tried to make the most out of our last hours in the city.
In the afternoon we made our way to the Uber office, where we met the other group. Together we went up to the 49th floor and entered the impressive lobby. We were welcomed by a friendly employee who guided us through the building and showed us several areas, including their working floors, a gym and even a gaming room with both an Xbox and a PlayStation. After the tour we gathered in a meeting room to talk about Uber’s work environment, career development and future goals. The most interesting part of the discussion was about artificial intelligence and how it is already influencing their company and its operations.
When the visit ended, we took the East River Ferry to Brooklyn and had lunch together at a nearby restaurant. Afterwards we returned to our accommodation, packed our suitcases and prepared for the journey home the next day.
