By the second week, a sense of rhythm had settled in. Everyone had found their footing at their respective workplaces; commutes felt familiar, coffee orders no longer needed repeating, and small talk with teammates was starting to turn into real conversations. The early uncertainty of the first few days had faded, replaced by growing confidence and the satisfaction of contributing meaningfully. Tasks were getting more complex, and with that came a stronger sense of ownership and belonging.
After work, we regrouped and headed downtown to SoHo. The neighborhood’s mix of designer stores, independent boutiques, and chaotic side streets offered a welcome change of pace from our office routines. Most of us ended up with shopping bags in hand, some essentials, some indulgences, but it wasn’t really about what we bought. It was about unwinding together, blending into the city’s rhythm for an evening, and realizing that, somewhere along the way, New York had started to feel a little bit like home.
