Life Choices Studios & Table Mountain

We had the opportunity to visit the Life Choices Team, who gave us a tour of their incredible Life Choices Studios. The Studio acts as a form of work-integrated learning — much like an internship — where students gain real-world experience by working on actual projects.
They shared some of their most exciting work, and we were truly impressed. It’s amazing to see what students can accomplish in such a short period. One standout project involved developing a system to track people in a building during emergencies, allowing responders to know exactly how many individuals are still inside. They used Raspberry Pi devices, NFC tags, and even discussed backend hosting solutions. The level of technical skill and problem-solving on display was remarkable and left us feeling inspired. Without a doubt, this visit ranks among the highlights of our trip.
Speaking of highlights, you can’t talk about Cape Town without mentioning Table Mountain. We took the cable car to the top, even though we weren’t too sure about the view at first due to the heavy cloud cover. But once we reached the summit, we were met with a nearly clear sky and an absolutely breathtaking view.
Looking out over Cape Town from that height was surreal. We could see the city’s bays stretching out below us, and even both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meeting in the distance. It was one of those moments you’ll never forget.
